The Digipak
We decided on a cover!!! So the following decision for the cover is on the right. We decided on this cover as we thought that the black created a more elegant look, therefore more modern. The lines were really cool and it gave texture but it was too much. However, the lines are still incorporated in this cover and we feel it was the right choice.
After making our decision, we began the other components of the digipak. We began with the back cover. Since the beginning, we knew we wanted the back to be black. But just having a black cover was very boring and dull. So we decided to spice things up by incorporating the member's signature. As well as, including a barcode. This way we could create a more realistically and visually appealing demo. Which is why decided to use a "case" to demonstrate the digipak. To give it that realistic feel.
As we finished the back cover, we created the inside. To emphasize the chosen colors, we created one of the sides to be red. In here, we added the basic information. Including the member's name and role, and the songs that are found in the CD. Since the song that the band will be playing is a cover of "All Along The Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix, we decided that this CD will be a cover of Hendrix's most famous songs. Therefore, all the songs listed are Hendrix's.
We also included the band's website (which is not the actual website) and an "important" note. As we were looking at samples, we saw that note in most of them so we decided to included. It continues to create that realistic feel but at the same time it fills up that empty space in the corner.
Lastly, we created the side where the CD is placed. As of now, we have 3 different choices. The first choice is a very simple white background with a black CD. The CD has a quote from Jimi Hendrix, as this are all cover songs of his. The second choice is for the CD to have the same lines found in the cover. This way it creates some cohesiveness and creates a more "fun" design. The third choice (which is the one we are leaning towards) is to use the same style of lines but it has some red. By doing so, it ties the red colors together.
Mariana and I need to finalize which design for the CD we want. But overall, the digipak is mostly done! Which makes me really happy because that is one less thing we need to worry about. Now we are in the process of making the website. We are choosing between two different applications to do it in, Wix or SquareReady. Either way, as you all know we will keep you updated. For now, enjoy this beautiful designs we took hours working on.
See ya,
SABRI
