It Has Been Decided!

  The magazine that I will be doing will be a food magazine! At first, I wasn’t sure if I should do a food magazine because I just didn’t pictured the magazine in my head. Finally, after doing some research, I started to see an image in my head. But before I tell you my ideas, I want to share some of the information I found on the magazines: Food and Travel, Food and Wine, Food Network and BBC goodfood.   

  As you can see from the chart, the target audience for a food magazine is mostly women whose ages ranges from 25-54. So for my magazine, I plan to do the same. I plan to create my magazine for women between those ages. Which is one of the reasons I want to make my magazine aesthetically pleasing and simple. Much like the cover from the magazines below. 

   I like that the cover doesn't have too many headlines and focuses on the picture itself. I want the reader to be attracted to the magazine because of the picture and for him/her to not be disturb by the sum of words. 

This magazine, by GoodFood, contains too many words and there is too much stuff going on. Even though, the use of many headlines is a great idea to get the reader intrigued, this magazine has way too many headlines for my taste. At the same time, the words are taking away the attention from the picture.













In my magazine, I would like to make my headlines as
neat as possible. This magazine is a great example of what
I am trying to explain. Compared to the GoodFood
magazine, this cover looks so much nicer, simple, and
is very appealing to the eye.

  Overall, the key element for my magazine is simplicity. I want it to look like a modern food magazine and for its primary focus to be the pictures. Although I have the idea of the magazine, there is so much more to be done. I need to research food photography, genre, recipes, and of course, I need to do my planning. So for the next time we talk, you will know all about my plan!
